LUSH Festival returns to Clarens over Easter Weekend from 18 to 21 April and this year the festival welcomes a brand new home. Noah’s Cheese on the farm Node, located just outside of Clarens, is the spacious new location for LUSH. Life is all about experiences. Savouring beauty. Finding hidden treasures. Creating memories with family and friends. This year’s Lush Festival showcases some of the most amazing experiences imaginable that will leave your soul spellbound. Noah’s Cheese, nestled in the shadows of Sandstone mountains in Clarens, gives LUSH a beautiful new home and scenic experience. The farm also provides a much bigger space for campers who’ll be able to park their cars next to their tents. The organisers are also building a permanent structure on the grounds with warm shower units for all campers. For those who have camper vans instead of tents, the space is there for you to join. There are tented sites, glam camping and dedicated electric points as different alternatives for individuals to select, making the experiences more varied. Being a three-day festival, organisers have ensured there’s ample accommodation for festival goers who can make use of the onsite camping and the town of Clarens, which has self-catering hotels, B&Bs, backpackers, lodges, and guest houses. There are also a variety of guest farms and country inns available in and around, as well as the Clarens Xtreme Ox wagon’s at Linwood, Linwood B&B and offsite camping at Golden Gate Parks board and Bokpoort. The ‘tented hotels’ onsite are also supplied by Under Cover Canvas with each tent equipped with beds, power points for charging phones, private showers, and breakfast. By having these different facilities, festival goers can choose where to stay depending on their specific needs. The live performance line-up for this year’s LUSH Festival is a stellar one with the initial announcement of Wheatus, Youngr, Kim Churchill, and Juzzie Smith who have been confirmed as the international live acts and the local line-up seeing Spoegwolf, Jeremy Loops, Goodluck, Jo Black, TiMO ODV, PHFAT, Shortstraw, Refentse, Desmond & The Tutus, The World Of Birds, Hellcats, Cockles., Tazers, and Gunshot Blue announced as the first of many to take to the various stages at LUSH. What made you decide to start the #NoOneWantsToInterviewUs videos? And what was the best question you got from that? We thought it would be a great way to engage with our audience and share what we were up to whilst in Europe, as well as have the response and activity on our socials help push us up and about on people feed via the Instagram algorithms, etc. The best question we got was about what our favourite birds were, just because we loved Conor’s answer so much and it was weird that it’s something we hadn’t yet asked ourselves. Please describe ‘The World of Birds’ to the readers who might not know you. We are a pop-trio from Cape Town, we blend a healthy mix of 90’s nostalgia and modern electronic music together to try to create the best live performance possible. We have released very little music and are about to release a whole bunch. Maybe even by the time you read this, we may have a total of 78 songs online! Go look! Last year when you played at Lush, you performed as Nic Preen and The World Of Birds, why the name change? Nic Preen seemed quite self-indulgent and through the process of working out realistic touring expenses and songwriting elimination, The World Of Birds slowly became an easy three piece which in today’s music market is all the more marketable and manageable. You’ve got a few songs out now already. Are you planning on bringing out a whole album soon? Yes! 78 songs guy! At least four more in the next month or two! We’ve already sent those off to Kudukudu and now Danilo (top buck) is making sure they come out on everyone’s phones anytime they buy any airtime or a data bundle within the Southern and Northern hemispheres. He has promised this to us openly. Who are you most excited about to share the lineup with at Lush this year? I still remember how good Desmond & The Tutus were last year, so that’s going to be another highlight for sure. Those guys don’t play a bad show. Last year PHFAT had us on stage too and so it’s practically tradition we join him again and so that’s pretty exciting and then Wheatus! Duh! Jeremy Loops! Duh!
