With that said, we had a quick chat with Melusi Hlwempu, owner of Mamelodi Lager, ahead of the festival:

How excited are you guys to be part of Capital Craft Beer Festival 2019?

2019 will be our sophomore experience of the Capital Craft Beer Festival – we are still babies of the beer craft industry, but growing rapidly. We are new wave, but old school. Looking forward.

Super Excited!

Makunyiwe Once!!

What beers are you bringing to the festival? And which are you most excited to serve to the people?

Will be serving our flagship lager with an increased number of taps – Mamelodi Lager

What makes a craft beer festival such a rad jol for you?

The overall vibe. The people, the music, the food and obviously the beer. After last year’s event, I can tell #CCFEST2019 will be EPIC!

Which of the other brewers are you keen on having a few beers with at the festival?

We genuinely enjoy Fokof Lager and Ukhamba. Our fellow Pretorians FRIAR’S Habit will be worth checking out.

Why should people have a few beers at your stall at Capital Craft Beer Festival 2019?

We have rebranded – Our new logo looks AMAZING, we also plan to increase our taps from 2 to 4 and there will be some branding goodies that we will share with our beer lovers.

Why do you think craft beer festivals are a necessity in South Africa

Craft beer festivals are not only a big fat jol.. Hehehe. It is about growing the craft beer nation, education to the consumer, acquaintance to other brewers and networking. Most importantly, NICE CLEAN FUN!
