Johannesburg-based electronic music producer Luke Knox has released a brand new electronic/pop smasher named “Losing My Grip”, and has teamed up vocalist Nicolas Gonzalez to create a unique combination of style, groove, and melody. At just 20 years old, Knox has been making waves in the local electronic scene, having already opened for Mi Casa, Euphonic, and DJ Fresh, as well as performing at Lush Festival and Sacred Hearts Music Festival. He brings a unique, experimental flavour to his mixes, citing musical inspirations such as Flume and Louis the Child. On “Losing My Grip”, Knox worked with alternative musician Nicolas Gonzalez, frontman and guitarist of the South African rock outfit Climate Control, for the vocal and lyrical additions to the track, which bring a dimension of melancholy and melody to Knox’s electronic sonic landscapes. “Losing My Grip” deals with complicated relationships and the addictive nature that these connections can have. Sometimes optimistic, sometimes resigned, they paint a picture of the strain that everyone has felt in some shape or form when navigating the difficult ins & outs of a close bond with someone.
