So, I finally got to watching The Haunting of Hill House. And man… it did not disappoint one bit. It is probably one, if not, the best series I have ever had the pleasure to watch. The cinematography (the funeral parlour scene will blow your mind) is out of this world, and the writing is top notch. There are quite a few jump scares, but that alone does not make The Haunting of Hill House so amazing… From the grim house with all the creepy statues when the sun sets, the haunting atmosphere, all the ghosts hidden away throughout the episodes, and the all-around dread amongst the “grown-ups” in dealing with their recurring problems after Hill House… There’s so much going for it. You have to watch it. Mike Flanagan has certainly made his mark on the horror genre and is probably one of the best after Gerald’s Game and Oculus made an impact, together with The Haunting of Hill House. Even Stephen King called it “Close to a work of genius” Just watch it. That is all.
