The premier Beer Festival in the Winelands returns this October: The Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival opens its taps in this vibrant student town at the Jan Marais Nature Reserve on Saturday, 14 October 2017 to satisfy the sort of thirst that only brew-drinkers and -lovers know. Bring your family and friends for a fun-filled day of great beer, fantastic music and some of the best food trucks around.

The music line-up includes the likes of Dave Ferguson, Rumswinger, Spoegwolf and more, as well as comedy hour with Melt Sieberhagen. The festival will host around 20 breweries for the occasion, allowing festival-goers to explore different styles of beers and seeing what local brewmasters have to offer. Taking place at the beautiful Jan Marais Nature Reserve, there is no better way to spend a Saturday than with good music, your favourite beer in hand surrounded by the Winelands’ beauty.

With that said, we had a chat with Stellenbosch Brewing Co. ahead of the festival.

Hey, there! Thanks for chatting to us. Are you excited for the Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival? What can people expect from you at the festival?

We are super excited to be at the SCBF Oktoberfest Edition 2017…its festival season and our favourite time of the year! We will be serving our line up of award-winning draught beers on tap including the recent Gold medal winner of South Africa’s Best Beer of 2017 the Stellies Hoenderhok Bock! @trophybeer @stelliesbeer #SANBT17

What has been your greatest accomplishment as a brewery in South Africa?

Oops already mentioned above! We just won Best Beer of Show in the South African Beer Trophy Awards 2017 for our Stellies Hoenderhok Bock. Our Stellies Mass Hoppiness IPA also won a Silver Medal. Earlier this year our Bock and Stout were also awarded the Sommeliers Selection awards.

Haha. Nice recovery 😉 How would you describe the first sip of a Stellenbosch Brewing Co. beer?

Liquid Euphoria!

Why do you think Craft Beer Festivals are a necessity in South Africa?

For far too long in South Africa we thought we were a beer-drinking nation guzzling down litres and litres of benign lagers now the world of craft beer has awoken a new revolution in inspired beers for inspired moments with exciting new beer styles – beer festivals are the best outlet for beer drinkers to experience these beers and have them poured by the brewers themselves.

What beers will you have on offer at the festival to all the fans?

4 of the following at any one time at the festival

Stellies The Avenue Lager
Stellies Bosch Weiss
Stellies Hoenderhok Bock
Stellies Mass Hoppiness IPA
Stellies Born Free Pale Ale
Stellies Eike Stout
Stellies Sweet Tart o’ Mine Cider

PLUS Stellies Schnapps

How can people get hold of you after the festival?

Stellenbosch Brewing Co. @stelliesbeer
Brewery and Taproom at Klein Joostenberg R304, Stellenbosch
