On the 31st of December 2012 (after surviving the alleged apocalypse on 21/12/2012) I made my way to Arcade Empire (thanks for the tickets) for their epic New Year’s party. The venue was packed when I got there, and they erected a big tent for the bands to make their presence felt in. It was a welcoming addition to last year’s party where a huge fucking storm rained out Taxi Violence at the beginning of their set, two thumbs up from me there.

Obviously there were a lot of lines to indulge in alcoholic refreshments at the bars, fortunately there wasn’t only just one place to spend to spend your cash, there were quite a few places, one downside was probably the lack of barmen and women. But none the less I got to stuff my face with brandy each time within 10 minutes. I missed the first three bands, actually I didn’t even know they started after 17:00, but thanks to Lucien Muller who hurried me on to get to the venue, I got to see Wrestlerish (which I always seem to miss for some or other reason). Taxi Violence was next and I was super amped to see them perform after last year’s debacle, they got on the stage and absolutely killed it, if you don’t believe me ask Lucien Muller for some of those epic photos he took, mindblowing stuff, see more of it here! After that Zebra and Giraffe graced the stage with a similar performance that they usually deliver.

From there on I made my way to the electro area to witness some DJ’s pumping out beats, people were fucking out to it and soaking up (and also soaking due to the immense heat in the place) the energy. Dubstep beats were flying around more than hot ladies sporting their cleavages, and that says a lot. I made my way to Civil Twilight to catch a bit of their show, I knew they were highly rated and they delivered a solid performance for the bit that I saw.

After that was said and done, we made out way into the electro area again to see what Dubsidia was all about, what sprung to mind was all the people dancing like crazy, I enjoyed it, my company that I joined went ballistic to the show and Allain was an absolute beast churning out dance moves like it was the 80’s all over the place. When the new year countdown began I found myself standing in line at the bar with Lucien Muller, I decided that I won’t stand inline while an awesome lady was sitting at our table so I dashed like a possessed man to our table and did that whole happy new year chant. Sorry bud for leaving you in the cold.

And then Haezer came, he conquered and won over the Arcadians over with his skills. Wow, what a show. People were peeling into the already packed area to check what the fuss was all about. It was truly an awesome set. When it was done and dusted we had a few more drinks and proceeded the way home. I got into my house, the sun already in the sky and dived into my bed to snooze off the nearing effects of my hangover. Thanks Arcade for one hectic party, and also thanks to Allain, Lucien, Shané, Chanelle and Callas for accompanying me.

See you at the bar, hopefully more at Arcade Empire.
