With that said, we had a quick chat with the ladies behind #SOZLOL…

Hi there. Thanks for your time. How excited are you to be back at the next Park Acoustics?

CATH: I think this is the best way to start the year, and it is always such an honour to play at Park Acoustics as well as being part of such a killer line up.

What is your absolute favorite song to play at a #jol or festival?

VICKY: It really depends on the crowd, but I don’t think you can go wrong with Mango Groove or Queen. 🙂

How would you describe a #SOZLOL performance in one sentence?

VICKY: Wild start, drunk sing-along-songs, dancing on tables and ‘poof!’, just like that, 4 hours (sometimes even more) are over.

You have been pretty busy performing a lot of shows last year. What has been the highlight of 2018 for you?

CATH: Definitely Oppikoppi and Aces & Spades. Vicky’s leg was still in a cast at both, so it was entertaining the whole way through, but the people jolled hard – and the satisfaction of keeping people on a dance floor until we’re told to switch off the music is the best ever!

Park Acoustics is one of the biggest monthly events in South Africa, who do you think should still perform at Park Acoustics?

VICKY: Nakhane Toure and Bongeziwe Mabandla, and a little LARK or Foto Na Dans reunion would kill❤

CATH: What Vicky said, but at the end of the day, Henk always chooses the best line-ups, so I trust him implicitly.

What has been your absolute favorite Park Acoustics memory?

VICKY: When I moved from Stellenbosch to Johannesburg, I made sure I didn’t miss a Park Acoustics for at least 4 years since 2012. There was a time a friend explained to someone else that Park Acoustics is my ‘church’. So I really can’t pinpoint just ONE best memory. I remember crying during Mango Groove at one of the big ones, a Bittereinder set that blew my mind on the bigger stage set up…HAEZER…

CATH: Grassy Spark, Femi Koya, Nomadic Orchestra have been highlights, BCUC is one that always gives me life. One of my favourite memories, besides the bands, was filming and hosting a youtube series and chatting to people that came to Park Acoustics and how much they loved it and what it meant to them. It was a major testament to Park Acoustics.

Lekker lekker! Be sure to get your tickets sommer nou for Sunday’s #jol! It’s going to be a blasty-blast!
