Ryan Reynolds has shared a wonderfully funny promo video for Detective Pikachu in which he talks about becoming Pikachu in the film. It’s called “Outside the Actors Studio,” and he makes sure that we know that he went to great levels to play this legendary role to the point that he pretty much gave up his family. Reynolds’s wife Blake Lively also appears in the video, and she is not happy with how her husband buried himself in the role. Detective Pikachu follows a young man who joins forces with Detective Pikachu to “unravel the mystery behind his father’s disappearance. Chasing clues through the streets of Ryme City, the dynamic duo soon discover a devious plot that poses a threat to the Pokémon universe.” Detective Pikachu is directed by Rob Letterman and also stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Suki Waterhouse (Revenge), Rita Ora (Fifty Shades Freed), and Bill Nighy (Gideon’s Daughter). Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10th, 2019.
