If you like new music, like us, and probably the whole world. We suggest you check out this local band – straight out of Pretoria! Lekker! I was totally hooked from the get-go on This Place. It may be because I have been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the past couple of days to death or maybe I just dig the raw sound. Whatever it is, this was fokken rad. Gooi a listen and be sure to check out their upcoming gigs right here, on their Facebook page. On the 25th October, country-folk band Percy’s Perseverance launched their first music video to accompany their current single “This Place” celebrated with a performance at Railways Cafe that evening with special guests Gunshot Blue & Basson Laubscher & The Violent Free Peace. Shot by the infamous Frans Borman, this video is scattered with haunting scenes of isolation, death and religion – a quintessentially set, sombre observation of the familiar yet increasingly foreign life of a small-town South African. “These scenes became a strong narrative for something that was once there but now gone. A way of life that has been lost to modern society and a detachment from nature.” – Ryan Coomer, vocals, guitar. “The whole video was very organic, the beautiful tree where we made coffee between its roots. The antelope that was shot and slaughtered, the cow at the end of his life.” – Frans Borman. The song was written after Ryan experienced a home invasion at a neighbours braai. The experience left him feeling hopeless, paranoid and desperate to find a new place to live. The album “This Place” is set to be released at the end of November/December 2018.
