Oppikoppi is happening in a few weeks, and wowzers – it’s going to be insane. Are you prepared? Camping chairs in working condition and the line-up memorized? And do you have your tickets yet? If not, click here. With that said, we’re asking Oppikoppi artists 7 questions about the festival and a few other random questions that you would like to know. We had a chat with Manouche.

Manouche is made up of 4 incredibly talented musicians from all over Cape Town. With a mouthful from Muizenberg, a salt and pepper sprinkle from Stellenbosch, a punch from Paarl and a spicy slice from Sea Point. They’re sure to bring some flavor to any occasion. Are you ready for Gypsy Jazz?

What are the first three things you’re going to do when you arrive at Oppikoppi?

Pitch my tent, get a drink and go explore the fest.

Which of the artists performing this year are you looking forward seeing? And why

That’s like asking which Victoria’s Secret model I like best. It’s difficult to choose one.

So far, I’m looking forward to Albert Frost and his amazing band. Bittereinder, Gerald Clark, Fokof, Grassy Spark, Jack Parow, and The Kiffness… just to name a few… 🙂

What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever given you before or after a show?

Hmm…. nothing comes to mind… But I’m sure that might change after Oppi…

It will… definitely. What have you done so far to prepare for Oppikoppi?

We’re working on some new material that’s looking pretty tight…

Any surprises that we can expect from Manouche at Oppikoppi?

If we told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise…

Well, we tried 😉 If you could describe Oppikoppi in one movie quote, what would it be?

Skêr Quagga, Skêr

If you could collaborate with any artist (dead or alive) for one show, who would it be? And why?

Yoh, such a hard question… Locally, probably Loki Rothman. He is such a talented musician, and I think we could all play well together. Internationally, Chris Thile. He is also in a group called the Goat Rodeo Sessions, and they are phenomenal! Its a group of individually-accomplished musicians, who together, bring you the most incredibly beautiful music you’ve ever heard. Folky, blue-grassy, happy-go-lucky kind of vibes… Right up my alley 🙂

We would like to thank Sarah and Manouche for their time. Be sure to check them out when they hit the Top Bar on the Saturday.
