Oppikoppi is around the dusty corner, and it’s going to be kakmal. Are your friends briefed yet? Do they know you’re going to have a huge party? And do you have your tickets yet? If not, click here. With that said, we’re asking Oppikoppi artists 7 questions about the festival and a few other random questions that you would like to know. We had a chat with Hugene Koekemoer from Scarlotte Will. Born and raised in a little mining town in the west where you tend to meet your future band member in a Pick and Pay on a Sunday afternoon, Hugene plays Bass for Scarlotte Will alongside Tristan Dos Santos, Brendon Bezuidenhout and Xan Swart. Based all over Gauteng, they are ready to take on Oppikoppi again after opening the Main Stage last year! What’s the first three things you’re going to do when you arrive at Oppikoppi? Scout for a spot, park and have the 1st Oppikoppi brandy!!! Pink drinks, beer or tequilas at Oppikoppi? Usually, it’s been whatever I get from whoever, but these days I’m pretty scared… So I’d definitely say no Pink drinks. Where’s the better party; Kreef Hotel, or District 9? Explain. District 9 is where the real party’s go down, but I have to add, I’ve never been part of a Kreef Party… Hahaha Neither have we… Where’s the best place at Oppikoppi to take a “time out?” I found a pretty sick spot by the James Phillip stage where I had the best time out last year while watching Tatran. Which of the artists performing this year are you looking forward seeing? And why? Joh!! So many guys that I know is bringing the Gees this year! All for the 1st timers like Sheldon Payne and the Blue Veins, Strait Jackal, Neo Galaxy, The Dandies, Hellcats,Pollinator and The Tazers!! Some cool things going down this year! Where’s the best place to have a bite to eat after a rowwe night at Oppikoppi? Probably Kobus se Gat, but that only happens once, then whoever has the best specials! What have you done so far to prepare for Oppikoppi? Besides training my body for weird sleeping habits, not much!! Every year I just wing it, and whatever I am not prepared for, I will be next year. We would like to thank the Scarlotte Will for their time. Be sure to check them out when they gooi at Oppikoppi in August.
