With the Mumford & Sons shows still etched into our brains, we can only smile and be amazed that they visited our shores for the first time. Mumford & Sons are one of those bands that exploded onto the international music scene with one smash hit, theirs being “Little Lion Man”. From there on, they grew into one of the most recognized bands of today. Dropping amazing singles left and right, and never losing touch with their original sound. But what were they up to before they became huge? Humble beginnings? We found this little gem on the internet a few minutes ago. Mumford & Sons performing in the back of a pizzeria in Texas, in 2009. The video was uploaded May 2009. Their album, “Sigh No More” was released on 2 October 2009 in the UK, and on 16 February 2010 in the United States and Canada. If we assume that the video was taken during May or April 2009, we can safely speculate that 6 months after the show, they would transform from backyard band to global superstars. Crazy? The people who watched this show were probably unaware that within a few years, the band that they enjoyed live right in front of them, would accept a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2013. Astounded? So are we. Check out the video below of Mumford & Sons performing “The Cave” for an intimate audience.
