The time has come for alternative music fans around South Africa to rejoice! After an almost unbearable few weeks of building up the anticipation, RAMfest has made the first couple of announcements for next years’ festival. And boy, was it worth the wait!

RAMfest, in proving once again that it’s a force to be reckoned with, has confirmed five international acts that people in South Africa have been begging to see for years now.

Trivium

We know a few people who are going to start crying from excitement at this announcement, and we don’t blame them. Metal legends Trivium, have been confirmed for Ramfest 2014! The Orlando Florida, four-piece band have been around since 2000 and have been making amazing music, and gaining hundreds of thousands of fans ever since. Their genre of music is constantly evolving, but at the core, they are metal as fuck; South Africa is honored to have them.

Killswitch Engage

As if getting Trivium wasn’t heavy enough, RAMfest is keeping the heavy metal vibe going, by enlisting one of the most recognizable pioneers of the metalcore genre. Killswitch Engage have been causing spontaneous headbanging sessions ever since they started out way back in 1999. Their mix of tasty riffs, powerful melodies, hauntingly beautiful lyrics and brilliant vocals, have put them in line to go down as one of the most influential metal bands of the last 30 years. We love these guys, and can’t wait to check them out next year!

Biffy Clyro

Here’s another one we know will leave a few people in South Africa (including Ed), a little wet in all the right places. The amazingly talented Biffy Clyro will also be joining the fray for next years’ RAMfest! The alternative/experimental rock heavyweights, have released six albums and have won numerous awards over their 18 years in the music scene. Best music video, best album, and best song… just to name a few. But most impressively, they’ve won best live band twice! Expect one hell of a show when these guys take the stage next year!

Foals

Foals haven’t been on the scene for as long as the previous acts – only popping up on the radar back in 2005. But their groovy, soulful sound has rocketed them into popularity in no time. They’ve released 3 studio albums thus far; all three making it into the top 10 on UK music charts. Their newest album, “Holy Fire”, even made it into the US top 100 chart. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what they’ve got to offer on the live stage in 2014.

Camo & Krooked Featuring Dynamite MC

Headlining on the electronic stage, we’ve got the dubsteppin’, drum & bass-ing, funk educing Camo & Krooked. Backed up by Dynamite MC. We won’t pretend to love electronic music as much as we love rock, but even we got a little excited at hearing this combo was coming to South Africa. These guys will ensure that the party at RAMfest will be continuing late into the night. And we’ll be the guys in the crowd, who don’t really know what they’re doing, but will be thoroughly enjoying themselves nonetheless.
