Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the most talented actors of his generation. He’s been one of our all-time favorites and we’ve loved everything he’s done over the course of his career. Now, that glorious career of his has come to an end.

The 60-year-old three-time Oscar winner has retired from acting. The actor’s spokeswoman, Leslee Dart, made the announcement but didn’t give any reason. All was said in the statement was:

“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject. ”

We are a little saddened by this. The guy just constantly gave one mind-blowing performance after another… and now, it’s coming to an end.

He has one more film coming out on December 25th, 2017. It’s an untitled drama directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who previously directed Day-Lewis in the amazing film There Will Be Blood. The actor will help promote the film, but then that’s it. That will be the end of his career.

This last film of his will be a crowning achievement in his career.

We wish him the best in his future endeavors and hope he has a great life in retirement.
