In case you didn’t know, news broke of a teaser trailer playing in front of Michael Bay’s 13 Hours that may or may not be a sequel to Cloverfield.

It was eventually confirmed that J.J. Abrams had in fact produced a film in secret, now titled 10 Cloverfield Lane, and had it slated for release through Paramount Pictures on March 11, 2016.

Dan Trachtenberg directs this mystery film with John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher Jr. starring.

The trailer leaked, now presented below, and revealed a plot very different from Cloverfield. Cloverfield was a found footage film that had people asking “why” after the film, but were left with no answers. It was an unsuspecting hit with fans all over the world. 10 Cloverfield Lane is much different; in it, the trio mentioned above are trapped in a bomb shelter. As the trailer darkens, the audience is led to believe that Goodman’s character may be bad, especially when Winstead’s character escapes. The button, though, sets up the mystery. What does she and what is Goodman referring to?

More questions beckon: Is this a sequel to Cloverfield? Is it a spinoff? More likely, especially since Abrams called it a “blood relative” to the 2008 film.

The premise of the film revolves around a woman who wakes up in a cellar where she’s being kept by a stranger, played by Goodman. Winstead explains further, saying, “He tells me that basically the world is over outside because there’s been a nuclear fall-out. It does have similarity to ‘Faults’, in some ways, because you don’t know who’s telling the truth or who to believe. There’s a lot of, who’s manipulating who, and all of that. Tonally, it’s very different, but it has some of those same themes.”
